After a massage last week, I thought I would give the running another whole week off to see if I could end this injury. Tiger did a lot of massage on my calf's. When I questioned him on this he showed me how the calf muscles wraps around the leg and onto the top of the foot.
Whether it was Tiger's magic fingers or the two weeks complete rest from running (or both), my foot came up OK after a short run earlier this week. I tried another run later on in the week and all seems to be OK I think. The runs were terrible and I am very unfit and was quite sore after each run - but I guess that is to be expected. With all the tri training and illness/injury this year, I really haven't had a good block of running training for the past 10 months. This is shown in the fact that I haven't run a PB since August last year.
So now I am in two minds. Keep going with tri training and have more months of mediocre running training, or focus more on a general fitness and tri's. It is a shame in the fact that I can't really do both. If I run 70-80k a week, I won't be able to fit in anything worthwhile on the bike or pool.
I am leaning toward writing this year off for running goals and updating every PB next year, but we will see how we go.

Glad to hear that the foot has improved & that you are running again. Don't worry about the PBs; they will come again when the time is right.
Mate,
I think you have forgotten your 10k at Nth Head in September. Don't write your year off yet there is still time to get some decent runs in.
Cheers

Running after a lengthy time-off always feels terrible. It's amazing how much fitness you'lose during the time off. There is still 6 months left until the end of 2008, so don't write off your chances tey. All the best!
Not an easy decision. If you do tri training, that'll be good for your cardio fitness, but probably not the best way to get some running PBs (City to Surf etc).
I still think you can do pretty well in tris with a 60% running, 30% riding, 10% swimming program. There's an ACT female (can't remember her name right now), did well in IM Aus with no swim training.
Good luck; take care on the bike!
