Manly to Palm Beach

Whilst it is frustrating organising a run primarily for yourself and not even running, I still had a good time this morning. I turned up on my bike to help with course markings/directions etc - with the no.1 goal not to let PlodBod get lost.

I agreed to carry Milov's bag for him. He never gave it to me, so I assumed he was carrying it himself. That was until I saw him after about 5k without his bag. A quick trip back to Manly and I was glad to see the bag still there - phew!

Around Mona Vale, I lost PlodPod and spent the next half an hour dong an Interval session looking looking for her. After a call to inhisshadow, who gave me Gavin's mobile no I located them. All was OK in the end and all made it to Palm Beach mostly on the correct route.

I hung around for a while and then took off back to the start to cheer in the 60kers. I passed Paul and Milov in Dee Why and they were making good time and powering up the hill. Even on my training runs I find it a hard hill to run up, but after 55k, these guys were still looking fresh. I raced down to Manly to find TattieBinger had already finished in sub 5 hours. Not bad for his first Ultra! Look out PMC! All 4 guys finished under 5:30 which is pretty good I reckon as it is far from a flat run.

After the other 3 guys came in I headed for home. I went the long way to ensure I clocked up 100k for the morning. I will try and do this run by myself later on in the year to make up for my absence today. Going sub 6 will be tough, but I want to give it a crack.

I also note that Paul Every did a 1:33 for 25k this morning after 60k, so he was obviously in a bit of form coming in to the weekend.

Mate I'm really bummed that I missed this one, I am super keen to do it as it's home turf for me. When the foot's fully healed and you're considering it again for later in the year, please let me know!

I'm so glad that it turned out to be such a good day, heaps of great feedback on CR, so well done with organising and directing!
