The Roller Coaster continues

After (another) 7 full days off training I am now back into it. I was very weak for most of last week and couldn't face any training at all. Back into it on Friday and have felt really good ever since. I have also put back most of the weight I lost which is great.

A very easy 6k on Friday and 1k swimming in the evening to get back into things.

I headed out Sat morning for what I thought would be only 40-50k on the bike. Was very surprised to find how good I was feeling, so just kept going and going and going. Went up through Mcarrs Creek and the Akuna Bay loop which was hilly but just beautiful. Did the duffy's forest loop before making my way home the back way through Frenchs Forest/Seaforth etc. Did a couple of laps of North Head to bring the k's up to 90k. Nice. Didn't feel too bad afterward either. Met the family at little Manly and had a really nice fresh swim afterwards which was just perfect. All up 90k in 3:42 @ 24.2.

Sunday was a very easy, slow 3k in the pool - stopping many times to fix my bloody goggles. Can't seem to get a pair that doesn't leak which is very frustrating. Highlight of the day was picking up an aquaman wetsuit for $300 (reduced from $750). It is the business - feels awesome. Also picked up 2 x cheap aquaman trisuits. So I may not be a triathlete yet, but I sure look like one!

Monday was 15k run with inhisshadow at lunch. Was very hot but felt quite good. 15k in apx 80 mins @ 5:15 (154).

This morning, I headed out early to join Richard and crew on the Tuesday morning session at Centennial Park. Never cycled there before and couldn't believe the amount of cyclists. I didn't know that many people cycled in Sydney! There must have been 300-500 cyclists - no joke. The session was 3 laps quick with 1 lap recovery x 2. I tucked in a tried to keep up. The pace was at apx 40k/hr. I was keeping up and thought I was going OK until a slight hill came and I got dropped! I tried my guts out to catch up but it was too late. The rest of the session was done by myself (and the hundreds of other cyclists). All up did 6 laps which is about 22k? averaging 32k/hr. Spent lots of time in the aero bars which are still a little uncomfortable but getting better. Think I may do this session every week. After riding back to work it was 46k for the morning - not too shabby! I then had the $8 big breakfast - definitely a highlight!

This afternoon was 2k in the pool - still swimming like a brick and will need to have a lesson a.s.a.p me thinks. 500m reps done in 11:00 - 11:30 each.

So, the training is going pretty good and can't complain. I have entered Nepean triathlon so there is no pulling out now!

Jen, I posted over on transitiosn and somebody PM'd me saying they used to be a distributor - blah blah blah.

I called him up and realised that he was a frind of my sister in law who I did Canberra HIM relay with in 2005. (small world hey) She told me it was all legitimate. He used to be the Australian distributor for Aquaman and still had lots of stock in his garage.

Aquaman Metal Cell wetsuit, a one piece suit and a two piece suit all for $460! I will take a couple of pics and post soon.

Glad to hear you're 'cured' and back into the training. Centennial Park sounds like a nightmare! Good bargain with the wetsuit.

By the way, you haven't got Nepean as a Possible Upcoming Race.
