Was all set for a long ride today until I got 1k from home and I rode over a big pot hole and "pop" went the back tyre. Now in over 12 months of riding this was only my second puncture, so I have to apreciate my luck. I changed the tire and rode home to pump up the tyre with the foot pump and get another spare.
So after about a 30 min delay I was off again - reached Mona Vale and as I was going down a slight hill, "pop" went the back tyre again - bugger. Little bit scary trying to stop when you are going >35k/hr with no air in your back tyre. Some closer investigations showed that the tyre had a weak point where the tube would show.
I changed the tube again and then headed home, crossing my fingers that I would make it before another one blew. I was really frustrated as I was planning to get the 100k up. I tried to make the most of the situation and ran off the bike. I think I took my frustration out by hitting the pavement hard - started out by running the first k just in just over 4 mins and kept the accelerator down. Ended up doing the planned 7k in 28:51 @ 4:08 (174). I was running at about 95% and gave me enormous confidence that the training is going well.
I planned to make up for the missed long ride this morning but was simply too buggered to get up, so I rolled over and slept in. The ironman in training will have to wait for next week!

Good work with the run after a disappointing experience on the ride.
That's a good run off the bike. Perhaps you should ride with bald tyres more often ;)
Good, so Nepean is on the 18th. I'll keep an eye on that one.
Great session you ended up with Chris. Bring on Canberra !
Nice run Burglar, looks like the enforced rest has done you the world of good.
There's too much non-running talk and photos of tri-porn for this blog to be named "Hamburglarsrunningblog" for much longer, mate....
