Been busy lately - quite a lot happening especially with end of financial year.
Quick update:
Last Thursday was a good tempo run around Harbour Bridge, Mrs Macquarie's chair etc. Went with Richard, Bill and Grant. Started off easy and slowly built the pace. No GPS, so I guess it was about 9k in 39:06 (165).
Saturday I got on the bike - yes you heard correctly - it has been a while and the reason for the post title. The ride itself wasn't too bad however Sat evening reminded me that it had been too long. Sore back, shoulders, neck and quads - yow! Got to get out there a bit more. All up 40k in 92:38 @ 26.0 (150).
I was a bit stiff on Sunday morning, so I procrastenated before going for a run in the arvo. I drove to Mona Vale to check out some details of the "Northern Beaches Fat Ass" that I plan to run in Aug. I thought I would only do 10k out and 10k back, but I got excited and went all the way to Palm Beach and back. I took it pretty easy and walked the steeper hills. There was so many magic views. I really think it is going to be an exciting run - really looking forward to it! I did have a couple of low patches coming home however I felt strong in the last few k's when I got a glimps of the car. All up 30k in 2:59 @ 6:01 (150) i.e. pretty cruisy long run.
Recovery run yesterday - 5k easy around pyrmont in less than 30 mins - average HR was 135! Just what a rcovery run is meant to be.
Today was Pain in the Domain - haven't done pain in about a year I reckon. Richard led the group (group 1) which was way too fast for me. The HR never really came down in between the reps. Long rep done in 2:28. All up 5.8k in 26:23 @ avg 4:32 (175). 1k warm up and cool down.
Therefore, getting a few sessions in and a few of them each week are fast, which is good. It will be interesting to see what results all this fast stuff brings.
5 weeks to cities!
