Aussie, Aussie Aussie - oi, oi oi!

The only bad thing about Australia day is people insist on chanting the worlds most embarassing war cry

Penrith 10k race today. Woke up at 5am for the journey all the way to Penriff. Picked up Mark on the way for his 2nd ever fun run - woo hoo.

Left the Garmin in the car and realised that I am lost without it. Took off way too fast and felt lactic after about 2k. Colin cruised past at this stage telling me that we were well under 4:00min pace - der! Went through first lap in 20:18 which was Ok however the legs got heavy in second lap. Got a very uncomfortable stitch in the second lap as well, the pain nearly causing me to walk. It went away quick enough and I managed to finish in 41:30.

At this stage I am pretty happy with that time as it has been a fairly big week of training and with the poor pacing and stitch I was expecting it too be much worse.

It was good to see Uncle Dave, Colin, Easy Tiger, Jen_runs and meet The Owl. Mark came in just over 60 mins which was great - I think he can break 2 hours for SMH.

After visiting Macca's for breakfast it true Hamburglar style, we headed on our way to Orange. I managed to sneak a quick look at the start of sixfoot whilst the little fella was feeding. I ran down Nellies Glen and back (well mostly walked back). It was much different to what I had in my mind. I rushed back as I didn't want the family waiting too long, and by the time I got back to the car (about 45 mins later) the quads were screaming.

So a good strong 10k hit out and a quick run down and up Nellies Glen was a good way to break up the drive to Orange and a good way to celebrate Australia Day. Now where are those wineries...
