Final big week of the Marathon program was completed this morning (80k's for the week) with a leisurely stroll around the Northern Beaches, around Narrabeen lake and home again. 30.1k in 2:36 (avg 5:10 pace). Felt really strong towards the end which was a really nice surprise. I always feel good after an Easy Tiger massage (which I had on Friday).
So, comparing the 11 week training period before taper this time vs Canberra:
Long runs:
Canberra = 7, sydney = 7 (including cities marathon)- would have liked to do 1-2 more.
Total kms (11 weeks before taper):
Canberra = 540 (week average: 49k), Sydney = 628 (week avg: 57k)
Long run pace:
Canberra = 5:35 - 5:55, Sydney = 5:10 - 5:35
PB's before:
Canberra: CC = 24:55, 10k = 42:40, Sydney: CC = 24:10, 10k = 41:32 (both could change before Sydney)
All in all I feel pretty confident that I can go sub 3:15 and hopefully quicker. Looking forward to enjoying the 3 week taper and hoefully a CC and 10k PB's this week!
