After having too many beers on Friday night and too many slices of cheesecake on Saturday night, I hauled my sorry backside into the city. Rachael hiched a ride and we met up with Paul at work. It was great to see him running after he sadly lost his mum during the week.
After having the goal of sub 58, I deceided to try and chase down what I thought would be a comfortable sub 60. I started off really strong and then hit the wall up heartbreak hill - the legs surprisingly still feeling heavy from the cities marathon. I tried to gather myself and keep going, and after getting an encouraging word from O runner at 11k to have a crack at 60, I gave it my best, but it wasn't to be. The last km was never ending and it was so frustrating to see the clock slowly ticking away knowing that you aren't going to make it.
Had orporto's and a beer with Paul which made me forget about those bloody 3 secs.
Paul and Rach had great runs 68 and 83 mins respectivly.
Splits:
4:24 (took 30 secs to cross start line)
4:33
4:00
4:19
3:54
4:17
5:09 (Heartbreak hill)
4:36
4:07
4:18
4:16
3:58
3:38
4:00
0:26 (over 14k due to being behind start line)
Finally got back to city after standing in bus line for ages. Will definitely run back to the city next year or stay at bondi for more beers!

Thats an impressive time given your previous PBs!
3 seconds is nothing in the scheme of things and certainly nothing to be down over.
Cheers R2B
Those 3 seconds will only stand as an inspiration for you to go sub 60 next year mate, still a bloody good run. Well done!
