Wide Open Spaces

Been a while since I have updated the blog...

I have been for a few days down at the farm in Culcairn (near Albury) visiting my mother in law and we all had a really fun realxing time away. It was really the first time cheeseburger has been old enough to be excited about all the animals, so he had an absolute ball! We slept, relaxed, worked and ate alot - which is my idea of a perfect holiday.

I trained pretty well early last week as I was planning on having a few days off to rest. I bonked badly on my last ride, so the body was clearly ready for a rest.

Thinking of those in the Sydney Marathon on Sunday, I forced myself out for a run - I ran all the way around the property which was apx 12k. I was actually surprised that it was that far, but there certainly is a lot of wide, open spaces down there which was really energising for a city slicker like me. When was the last time you went for a 12k run and didn't leave home?

Back into the training this week. I am actually on annual leave, but it isn't really a holiday as we are renovating our kitchen. I have been squeezing in a session here and there but with all the pysical work, the sessions have been a bit sluggish. I am trying to do an ironman in training this week, but it may be a bit of a struggle.

Swimming is coming along nicely however the cycling is a struggle. I don't know what it is, but I find cycling really hard and the legs feel fatigued for days after a solid ride. Looks like I will be downgrading the expectations for Port.

Need to buy a wetsuit and a tri suit this week. I may get a friend to buy and Ironman wetsuit for me at the Gold Coast Half Ironman this weekend, but I need to look at some other brands first.

Sounds like my idea of a perfect holiday too!

When you work out the secret to cycling let me know please. I think it's ever harder to ride up hills than run them - and trust me, that's really saying something...

Mate great photos - it's ok to tell the cheesburger that is where the cheese comes from but I'd hold off on news about the burger ;-)
