Running PMC had become a big goal for me in the last few months. To accept that I wouldn't be running was tough. I decided that I still wanted to be involved, so the plan was to run the first 45k. I planned to drive to Cowan, catch the train to Gosford and run back to the car.
I tossed and turned as the wind and rain pounded my window. I wanted to run, but this was ridiculous. I slept in.
Still wanting to get my long run in (and feeling a little guilty that I piked), I headed out when the rain seemed to be clearing up. Maybe it was carma because it then started to pour down. The whole run was on again/off again rain and when exposed to the wind it was really cold. After more 2.5 hours I was drained, buggered and cold. Can't imagine what it would be like after 10 hours - especially as it started to get dark. In the end, in those conditions and even if I trained much better, I don't think I wuld have made it. Next Year!
I did the same route as Monday (i.e. a few hills) except I didn't run up to Long Reef, instead doing a lap of Cromer. Details were: 30k in 2:43 @ 5:29 (154).
Today was an easy 12k trundling thru Manly - some great waves with a good swell and offshore winds. I wouldn't usually run this long the day after a long run however I needed to get to 100k for the week - Yay! 12k in 62:59 @ 5:20 (149).
