I pulled up so well after Wednesday's long run that I decided to do a medium-long run again today. The rationale for this was to cram now for the SHM half (i.e. 3 weeks out) rather than try to cram too much in just before the event.
I headed up thru seaforth and up to North Head where I did a quick 4k (from the striders 6k mark to the finish) to get some good vibes for next weekend. Did the 4k in 16:42 which was pleasing.
An army truck driver had a brain explosion thinking his truck would fit under the Artillary Archway - it didn't, and he knocked down the archway which has been their for about 100 years! Woops!

The rest of the run was pretty uneventful through Manly, Freshy and Curl Curl before heading back home. The last few k's were tough, muscles felt quite depleted and it was good to get home. All up 22k in 1:56 @ 5:16.
Today's run made it 69k for the week, which isn't that much but heaps more than I have done for a while and with a bit of quality thrown in as well.
Yesterday was meant to be a long ride however I woke up to a really wet morning and I don't ride in the rain! Luckily it cleared up in the afternoon and I managed to squeeze a few laps of North Head. 24k in 59:16 @ 24.4. Laps were done in 10:19 (152), 10:10 (151), and 10:13 (153), which is slightly faster than I have done before. It was a bit chilly late in the afternoon which made me realise that I don't have any warm bike clothing. What does a cyclist ned to get through winter I wonder?
Next weekend is North Head Striders and whilst I don't feel at all confident about going sub 40, I will try and do all the right things this week to give it my best shot.

Gotta love the cram - just be careful mate - well at least more careful than the army truck driver ;-)
