How do you know when you're in a taper?

Went out for a run after work tonight as I thought I should do something. It wasn't until the end of the run and I added it up that I realised that I have run 7 out of the last 8 days! I thought I had been bludging in the last few days but it just goes to show that you taper off a bit and the body really appreciates it. It just goes to show that the long runs together with the cycling does some damage.

A really easy 6k yesterday with Paul and a harder session today. I did a 2k warm up and then 4 x 1k reps with a 500m jog recovery and then a 2k warm down. Managed to do all the reps in ~3:50 and felt really good.

Edit : reps were:
3:53 (175)
3:51 (176)
3:55 (176)
3:50 (174)

Total was ~ 10k at average 4:37 pace. Noice one!

I think I will have tomorow off as well as Friday so I am in tip top shape for Sat. Woo hoo!

Have a strong run at Striders on Saturday and enjoy the taper. I'll be in Sydney and I'd like to be there on Sat, but a 10km race just doesn't mix with a 36km run so the marathon training wins out!

Enjoy the taper - and best of luck with the 10k.
