So happy...

Had a great weekend training and I need to blog!

It started on Sat morning when I thought I would go for a swim. I had the goal of doing the nepean triathlon, but after my last swim I realised I had no chance of swimming 1k (at once anyway).

went up to Warringah Aquatic Centre which had the 25m board erected. I started swimming and tried to swim more than the normal 100-150m before needing a rest. I surprised myself by making 500m before stopping. I had a few miutes rest before doing it again, and again, and again. It just seemed easy. No heavy breathing and light headedness.

500m splits were pretty slow but I am not complaining...

12:10 (2:50 rest)
11:55 (3:05 rest)
12:40 (2:20 rest)
12:40

2k elapsed time - 57:40

The afternoon saw an easy 15k to fairy bower and back - average pace was 5:12 - noice.

Sunday morning saw a ride with some guys from work. I was a bit nervous about this as this was only my 4th ride and these guys were pretty good cyclists. I met them at the mall and we took off at quite a gingerly pace. It was much easier to tuck in and draft on the faster guys.

We had a rest at Church Point before heading off to west head. I didn't realise how far it was and was glad to finally reach the turnaround. It was a great view and we had another short rest here. The way home was tough and each hill burnt my legs. By the time I got home (after an embarrasing fall when my pedal got stuck) I was goooonnnneeee! Felt worse than my recent marathon. Had to have two sleeps for the rest of the day!

Total time was 3hr 15 and an average pace of about 22k/hr which was pretty good considering all the hills. The total distance was 72k - much longer than I was planning but a good workout and I am glad I did it.

I am really enjoying the cycling (and even the swimming), it is a really goo change to just running!
