I'm back

The longer you haven't blogged for, the harder it is to make a return.

Just after cities marathon I developed a sore point on the top of my right foot. Felt very much like a stress fracture. I had something very similar to this in 2008. After 3-4 weeks of little running the foot started to feel OK - and so I was hoping that this would be the same deal. It wasn't. I was desperately hoping to be a part of trailwalker team but alas I had to step down. Innes, then Terry took my place. The team did pretty well and came 20th out of apx 600.

I also missed the City to Surf. The injury was such that I could not feel it at all other than the afternoon and next morning after running.The ache would come after about 30 mins of running. I would have two weeks without running, cross my fingers and go for a short run to only find out that there had been only minimal improvement. Frustrated, I entered GNW 100k and crossed my fngers that all would be good by November. I visted the pysio on three occasions, with no real diagnosis. By the time I saw my GP and got a referral to get an X-ray, I started to see improvement. That was three weeks ago, and I can now say that I am over it and can only feel the ache ever so gently. So..... I'm back.

August to October saw montly running totals of 15k, 20k and 72k. This was after 6 months of averaging 263k per month - my best block of training ever. I was disappointed to miss trailwalker but to be honest I wasn't to worried and was enjoying some down time and and off season. I was basking in the joy of running the 3:03 at cities.

I enjoyed some down time, but also enjoyed cycling a bit more with monthly totals of 285, 245 and 467.

Focus now is 3 fold. Nepean triathlon, Bogong to Hotham and then an all out tilt at sixfoot.
