Mon - 10k cahill run in 47:13 (4:43)
Tues - 7k around the city in 33:16 (4:33)
Wed - corporate cup in 23:20. Actually realised after the fact that this was an equal PB. I thought I was going to break 23 mins at one stage but faded in the last k. A good confidence booster.
Thur - 8k around the city in 37:09 (4:48)
Fri - massage with tiger and last day at ING (i.e. drinks)
Sat - rest
Sun - 21.1k in 85:11 (4:02) - woo hoo.
Total - 55k
I decided earlier in the week to try for 86mins however a few big nights at work to celebrate leaving ING and what felt like the onset of a cold the previous day, made me far from confident. I had a couple of panadeine and tried to get my race head on. Took off and the crowds didn't hold me up to much. I like the new course and I think the down hill start suits me. I did the first k in 3:50 and after the argyle hill, 2k was done in 8:03. From here, I slotted into a 4 min k rhythm going through 5k in 19:37, 10k in 40:07 and 15k in 60:11. I was over the moon at keeping this pace up and set myself the challenge of doing a sub 4 min k half marathon. The last 5k got harder - especially the 2nd climb up Hunter where I lost 20 secs or so. Battled on and tried to make up time to no avail, going through 20k in 80:38. In the end I was over the moon with a 85:11 and a 2:47 PB.
Woohoo! I put this time into McMillan and it gives a 2:59:39 marathon. Now that's something to think about!!!!

Yep. You just keep on thinking about that sub-3. I reckon you're in with a shot! Geez. Wouldn't that be something??
Must be something about having a bub helps your running. Maybe we should have another... (TA runs screaming from the room... :-) :-0 )

Congratulations mate - that is a sensational result.
Sub 3.... go forrit.
Congrats mate! That's an awesone timing. When is your next marathon? ;)
damn - sub-86!!! Mate I'm going to have to try and get re-trenched myself - must do wonders for the race pace :)
So there goes the triathlon career I suspect. A sub-3 eh? Worth striving for
Well done on the PB. Would have been a sub-4s half on a flat course. The last half lap of SMH is a bugger!
