Taper time

3 week block has been completed and now it is taper time.

Mon - Rest
Tues - 10k in 47:18 @ 4:57 (158) - Anzac Bridger loop
Wed - 13k in 64:00 (158) including 5k in 21:40 @ 4:20
Thur - 14k in 70:27 @ 5:02 (152) - Wooloomooloo
Fri - 4 x 1k intervals - 3:42 (169), 3:33 (172), 3:51 (174), 3:46 (174) - a bit inconsistent but better than I thought I was at this stage.
Sat - Rest
Sun - 28k in 2:55 @ 6:18 (142) - around Manly with Paul. Quite an easy pace today as Paul did 160k on the bike yesterday. My legs were surprisingly sore and in great need of a taper me thinks.

All up 74k for the week and 221k for the last three. Three week block of cramming has been completed and I now will focus on a short, sharp taper. Lots of races and faster stuff in the last three weeks. Probably one of the best three week blocks I have put together.

Still worried about the lack of long runs however I am pretty confident of a sub 5. 4:55 would be great and I would be over the moon with a 4:3x.

Easier week this week and then holidays in Port Macquarie for the lead in to the race. Miners is trying to get me to do a triathlon next Sunday, but I am not sure I can swim 500m and whether the bike will fit in the car. Will see how we go.

Did you cram for your exams too? ;-P Seriously glad to hear that your body made it through the last few weeks unscathed. Enjoy the taper - and Port Mac - and I'll see you at the start line.

The 'cram and taper' will have provided what you need. No need to stress the lack of long runs.

You must be doing the taper right, if you feel like you aren't doing enough.
