A rest/recovery week

It may not be in your average Marathon training program, however I deceided this week to have an almost complete week off running after last weeks marathon.

I was feeling tired before running the marathon and I had a busy week travelling for work coming up so I decided to give the body some rest/recovery and not stress out if I couldn't fit a run in.

I subsequently didn't get ato run till yesterday's Striders's 10k race at Lane Cove. It was cold and raining, but thought I would go anyway. Thought I may be able to run a PB and aimed for 40:xx.

As I was clibing the hill at scribblies, I realised that the legs weren't in good shape. The next 2k's weren't any easier and I clocked 21:06 for the first 5k - would have to run home in 20:00 to crack 41 - and that wasn't going to happen! I tried hard on the way home trying to keep myself motivated by not letting Horrie pass me and finished in 41:57 (1 sec ahead of Horrie).

Splits:

1) 3:58
2) 3:54
3) 4:17
4) 4:19
5) 4:37
6) 4:20
7) 4:13
8) 4:15
9) 4:10
10) 3:53

Total: 41:57

Time to get back into the hard training. Three really big weeks before taper begins.
