An unexpected PB

Turned up to Northe Head Striders this morning with no high hopes of running well. Would have been over the moon with anything sub 40. So to get a PB (39:29) by my watch was quite a welcome surprise.

It was great to have another battle with Horrie. It really helps to have someone around you to keep pushing you along. He flew passed me in the 5th k and just tried to stick with him. I felt good at the top of the hill at 7k and tried to push a little. Was struggling in the last however I think I am getting better at ignoring the pain. The last k is fantastic. I was pushing hard to get a PB and to see the clock less than 39:30 was great.

Splits:

1) 3:51 (171)
2) 3:53 7:44 (182)
3) 4:00 11:44 (184)
4) 3:59 15:44 (183)
5) 4:01 19:45 (184)
6) 4:01 23:46 (184)
7) 3:57 27:44 (186)
8) 3:54 31:39 (185)
9) 4:02 35:42 (186)
10) 3:47 39:29 (186)

Great runs also from Greg, Sub 50 (post trailwalker) and inhisshadow who is just blitzing it with a low 38. Awesome.

Good to catch up with some CR's and meet a few new ones i.e. Will, Podrunner and Silverfox (who I think helped me with the k markers?)

In my opnion, and as a local, it is the BEST FUN RUN IN SYDNEY by a long way. biggrin.gif

Caught up with Caty, Rach and Anita for breaky which finished off a great morning.

Congrats on the PB! The unexpected ones are sweet. Very even splits there. You certainly flew home. I'll have to check out Horrie's version of the race.
