Don't you just love long weekends?

Saturday

Pretty miserable day. After not running all week due to being sick I headed out for an easy 10k to Shelley beach and back. Managed to keep dry however it was a bit windy. 10k in 49:58 @ 5:05 (153).

There was some solid waves at Manly, especially at South Steyne off the point, so after I got back, I grabbed Cheeseburger and went and watched for a while. We also went to Sth Curly so I could show him the "Pooly Tubes" - see below pictures.

Sunday

I initially planned to do the Soft Sand Half Marathon today as I did last year, however I didn't get to do any soft sand training over the past few weeks and I knew my calves would be torn to shreds, so I decided against it. We had a big day shopping planned, so I got out for the same 10k as Saturday so that at least I could watch the runners run along the beach as I ran along above them. Saw a couple of Striders and also Sportsman. 10k in 49:27 @ 5:04 (150).

Went to IKEA in the afternoon and bought a kitchen (part of one anyway). Very impressive store IKEA however I wasn't expecting to be here for over 5 hours! I have never been in a shopping centre for this long in my life - we even had to pay for parking as only the first three hours were free. I was absolutely exhausted afterwards which confirmed to me that shopping is much harder than running. I would rather run for 5 hours than shop for 5 hours! The afternoon finished well, as they sold a hot dog and a coke for $2! Yes $2 and this included free refills! We spent $1,700 but I get excited about saving a few bucks on a hot dog?

Monday

After sleeping in and having a great breakfast, I headed out for a long run. The sun was out and it was a glorious day. I was regretting not doing my long run on Sat or Sun so I could cycle, however what was done was done. I went up to seaforth, North Head, Shelly beach and followed the coast to Long reef. I even ran along Dee Why beach which was good until I had to wade through the flowing lagoon and my shoes got wet :-(. Made my way home via Pittwater road.

All in all a good run. With all the hills, I thought I would feel much more smashed than I did. 30k in 2:42 @ 5:26 (154).

A couple of happy snaps from the run...

Great pics. What an improvement in the weather over the 3 days.
Solid run today. Just hope you don't have to install the kitchen yourself!

Sounds your over being sick. Nice pics, looks like it was a perfect day for a long run. Also your plan outlined in the previous post sounds like it should work well. I like the approach about not missing the same workout two weeks running.
